Pigs
These two ladies made their way here in the fall of 2021 from times spent at Ralphy's.
Keegan is an independent lady who loves a good nap and to cuddle up to her pig partner Tyler after a nice day lounging in the sunshine.
Aggie arrived in the summer of 2021 after the loss of her parent.
An older guy, Tyler arrived with Keegan in December 2014.
Cornelius joined us in June of 2014. He came from a shelter surrounded by dogs after being surrendered by a neglectful owner. He always has an opinion to share and prefers to be the boss hog. He gets along fairly well with Charlotte, Wilbur, and Frankie.
Frankie was dumped with his girl Mya near a busy highway and taken in at a local horse farm. When a search for the owners turned up empty, they were passed on to us and we are so lucky to have them both. Frankie was neutered shortly after his arrival and currently shares space in the barn with most of the other pigs.
Shortly after she arrived here with her man Frankie, we realized she was a runner who was too small to be held in by farm fences and gates. It didn't take her long to adjust to life as a house pig, and grow and grow, only to discover her little hidden treasures to come.
In January of 2015, about 3 months after their arrival, Mya and Frankie blessed us with the sweet addition of their two sons, Olaf and Levi, who will spend their life here with both Mom and Dad nearby. Levi is a bit of a suck. Get scratching him and he'll snuggle on you and make sweet sounds.
In January of 2015, about 3 months after their arrival, Mya and Frankie blessed us with the sweet addition of their two sons, Olaf and Levi, who will spend their life here with both Mom and Dad nearby. Olaf is a calm, independent fellow who likes belly rubs.
He was found in a city, and as is often the case, where city by-laws don't allow for pigs, he was never claimed. He spent several months being looked after by a shelter before he joined us here on the farm. He enjoys his sleeping box and a space he shares with Mia (not Mya).
Mia came to us from her home at Ralphy's Retreat to see if she and our Hamlet might become friends. Neither previously had much luck making friends with other pigs. They quickly hit it off and are now bunking together in their little nest. She is a tiny girl with lots of friendly confidence.
This gentle boy was given up to a farm that didn't really want him when he grew too big for his family. He really is a sweet soul who loves a good belly rub. He's currently sharing a space with Daisy and Theo.
Theo came to us from Ralphy's Retreat after a quick pass-through. He had previous Tamworth pig experience and seemed like he may be a good fit here given Charlie and Wilbur are Tamworths. He is so gentle and lovable. I'm am certain he will have plenty of friends in no time.
Thelma and Louise were a sudden August 2015 rescue when we got word that they were due to be sent off to slaughter the very next day. The are very shy sisters who enjoy the comfort of one another, have found their voices in the sanctuary crowd, and are learning a little more all the time to not just tolerate but to appreciate human contact.
There was this one time, early after moving Jacques to his current house, Andrea and I were in socializing with him, one of the pigs in the other side of the house made a noise. It startled Jacques to the point where he jumped on my lap for safety. He needed his new daddy to protect him from the scary monster :) He's soooo personable. He looks at you and smiles. When he's out of the main pig paddock I can see he's torn between exploring and spending his time beside us.
He wasn't happy at his inside home in southern Ontario, and he needed a new place with a chance to let his true colours shine. Loves belly rubs. :) He arrived April 2017.
Lily and Linus arrived with Jacques in October 2016. They were about 5 months old at the time. They're a feisty little pair, but they love to cuddle and fall over for belly rubs.
Plum arrived at FrogHollow in November 2018 from a family without the ability to care for her anymore. From an indoor pig to full freedom, she's loving every minute.
Flower arrive at FHFS in November 2018 after being used to entertain kids at a horse farm. She can't hear, but she's doing just fine, having bonded with Plum.
